In 1994, I watched a guy in a Ranger bass boat hit a steel pole at about 45 to 50 mph. It threw both men out of the boat and completely crushed the front of the boat. The pole was about 6 feet in the boat. The two men had to be taken to the hospital. They were in a tournament that was taking place on the Delta river. The boat was completely full of water but would not sink. Two more men eased up beside the Ranger in their boat and one of them crawled over into the Ranger. He turned the key and the motor cranked up. They hook the trailer up to another truck and backed the trailer down the ramp and the guy drove the crushed, completely water filled Ranger up onto the trailer. This was before Ranger started making aluminum boats. My brother and I saw this in disbelief. We had never seen anything like it before.

Kills me that Mercury still hasn’t added a charging circuit for a house battery. After all everyone is going to bigger electronics. Yamaha figured this out in 1992 and in 2021 Merc still hasn’t figured it out????
